How to Order Window Film – From Quote to Installation
A Simple Guide to Ordering, Installation and Aftercare
Ordering window film for your home, apartment, villa, conservatory or business should be straightforward. At Out of the Sun in Spain, we guide you through the process from your first enquiry to the finished installation and after-sales support.
Whether you are looking for solar window film to reduce heat and glare, privacy window film, or safety window film, we will help you choose the right solution for your glass and your requirements.
Here is exactly how our process works.
1. Contact Us
The first step is simply to get in touch.
- You can contact us by phone, WhatsApp or email and tell us what you are looking to achieve – 0034-603316590
Perhaps your home becomes too hot during the summer, you have too much glare from the sun, you want more privacy, or you are concerned about vulnerable glass. You do not need to know which film you need. That is where we can help.
What information do we need?
To give you the best advice and an accurate quotation, we may ask you for:
- Your property location
- Photos of the windows or glass doors
- Approximate measurements
- Number of windows or glass doors
- Whether the glass is single or double glazed, if known
- Whether the glass is accessible from inside or outside
- What you want the film to achieve
- Your preferred installation date
Don’t worry if you do not have all the information. Send us what you can and we will guide you through the rest.
2. We Look at Your Glass and Requirements
Every property is different. The best window film depends on several factors, including the type of glass, size of the windows, location, orientation and accessibility. We also consider what you want the film to achieve.
For example, you may want:
- Less Heat, Solar window film can help reduce the amount of solar heat entering through your windows.
- Less Glare, A suitable solar film can make rooms more comfortable by reducing uncomfortable sunlight and reflections.
- More Privacy, Privacy film can provide greater privacy while also changing the appearance of your glass.
- UV Protection, Window film can help reduce UV transmission through the glass, helping to protect interiors, furnishings and other items from UV-related fading.
- Additional Glass Protection, Safety window film can help hold broken glass together and provide an additional level of protection.
3. We Recommend the Right Film
Once we understand your requirements, we can recommend the most suitable film.
Our main window film solutions include:
- Solar Window Film, Designed to help reduce solar heat and glare while providing UV protection.
- Privacy Window Film, Designed for situations where increased privacy is important, while also providing an attractive finish to the glass.
- Safety Window Film, Designed to help improve the safety characteristics of glass by helping hold broken glass together.
We can also advise whether an interior or exterior film installation is more appropriate. This is important because not every type of glass should be treated in exactly the same way.
4. You Receive a Clear Quotation
After assessing your requirements, we provide you with a clear quotation. We believe customers should understand what they are paying for before making a decision.
Our pricing is based on the amount of film required and the installation requirements of your project.
- Where applicable, our quotation will clearly show the relevant costs.
- There should be no need to guess what your final price will be.
- Before accepting your quotation, you can ask us anything.
If you are unsure about the film, appearance, installation method or anything else, simply ask. We would rather answer your questions before installation than have you make a decision without the information you need.
5. Accept Your Quotation and Book Your Installation
Once you are happy with the quotation, we arrange your installation.
- We agree a suitable date and confirm the installation details with you.
Our payment terms are:
- 50% when the quotation is accepted and the installation date is confirmed.
- 50% on completion of the installation.
- All payments are made by invoice.
6. Preparing for Installation
Before we arrive, there are a few simple things you can do to make the installation easier.
Where possible:
- Make sure the windows are accessible.
- Move furniture away from the glass.
- Remove curtains or blinds if they prevent access.
- Clear items from window sills.
- Tell us about anything that may affect access.
- Make sure we can access the property at the agreed time.
You do not need to clean the windows before we arrive. Our installation team prepares the glass as part of the installation process.
7. Installation Day
On the agreed day, our installation team arrives at your property. Before starting, we check the glass and the installation area. We then carefully prepare the glass before applying the film.
The installation process generally involves:
Glass inspection → thorough cleaning → preparation → film application → trimming → finishing → final inspection
We take care to achieve clean edges and a professional finish. We also treat your property with respect and keep the working area as clean and tidy as possible.
8. Final Inspection
Once the installation is complete, we inspect the finished work. We check the film, edges and overall finish and make sure everything has been completed as expected.
We can also explain the aftercare process and answer any questions you may have. At this point, your installation is complete — but our service does not stop there.
9. What Happens After Installation?
Newly installed window film can look different during the first few days while it cures.
You may notice:
- Small amounts of moisture
- A slightly hazy appearance
- Small bubbles or water pockets
This can be completely normal during the curing process. The film needs time to settle and dry properly ( roughly 14 days )
- Do not try to remove moisture or bubbles yourself.
The curing time can vary depending on the film, glass, weather conditions, temperature and whether the film has been installed internally or externally. If you are concerned about the appearance of your film during this period, contact us before attempting to do anything yourself.

Window Film Cleaning and Aftercare
Correct cleaning is important for keeping your window film looking its best. Once the film has properly cured, normal cleaning is straightforward.
How to Clean Your Window Film? Just use:
- A soft, clean microfibre cloth
- Clean water
- A mild, non-abrasive glass cleaner if appropriate
Spray the cleaning solution onto the cloth rather than aggressively spraying directly onto the edges of the film. Gently wipe the glass using light pressure.
For larger windows, work from top to bottom and use a clean microfibre cloth to remove any remaining moisture.
What Not to Use
To protect the film, avoid:
- Abrasive cleaning products
- Scouring pads
- Rough sponges
- Steel wool
- Blades or sharp objects
- Aggressive scraping
- Strong chemicals
- Ammonia-based products unless specifically confirmed as suitable for your particular film
Never use anything that could scratch the surface of the film. If you are unsure whether a cleaning product is suitable, ask us before using it. Be Careful Around the Film Edges
The edges of the film are particularly important.
- Do not pick at, lift or scrape the edges.
When cleaning, use a soft cloth and avoid repeatedly catching the edge of the film with hard or sharp cleaning tools. This simple precaution can help keep the installation looking good for many years.
What About External Window Film?
- External films require additional care because they are exposed directly to the weather.
- When cleaning exterior film, use gentle methods and avoid abrasive materials.
- Do not use high-pressure equipment directly against the film or its edges.
If you have any questions about cleaning an exterior installation, contact us before cleaning.
Your Window Film Guarantee
We stand behind the quality of our installations. Our standard installation guarantees are:
- Interior Installation – 10-year installation guarantee
- Exterior Installation – 5-year installation guarantee
The guarantee applies subject to the applicable terms and conditions. The film itself also has its own manufacturer’s specifications and expected service life, which can vary depending on the product, installation conditions and exposure.
Please contact us if you have any questions about your particular installation or guarantee.
After-Sales Support
Our relationship with you does not end when the installation team leaves. If you have a question about your film, cleaning, curing, maintenance or guarantee, simply contact us.
We are happy to help.
If you notice something that concerns you after installation, please contact us before attempting to repair, remove or alter the film yourself. In many cases, what initially looks unusual can simply be part of the normal curing process.
